Upcoming: EWE Wenas Base Camp Backroads Trip - 5/5-7/23 1
Wenas Base Camp Backroads Trip
Hosted by Eastern Washington Expeditions
Friday May 5 – Sunday Map 7, 2023

(A Discover Pass is required)

Eastern Washington Expeditions is hosting a Base Camp Trip at the Wenas Recreation Area May 6-8 with a 4×4 run and potluck dinner on Saturday.

This event is free but there are a limited number of rig spots available. So it is on a first-sign up basis after Club Members. We have a few openings for this event.

The 4×4 Trip is 10 AM Saturday: This will be backroads type of trip for all size vehicles. A Discover Pass is required. You must have a working Street licensed 4 wheel drive with some clearance. Please have a full tank of fuel, recovery gear, and cold weather gear. Bring a sack type lunch since we may not stop very long at places along the way. Be prepared for mud and snow. Know your recovery points and have recovery gear.
NOTE: By signing up you are expected to follow the rules of the land and Tread Lightly. The roads/Trails can get soft this time of year. Spinning your tires intentionally on wet surfaces causes damage and is illegal. These actions have caused closures.

CAMPING
We are camping Friday to Sunday afternoon. RVs are welcome since we are doing a Base Camp event. You must have a Discover Pass for each street licensed vehicle you bring. There are outhouses in the area you can use. You should be able to have a real campfire this time of year. We most likely will have a propane campfire at the base camp and everyone is welcome.

THE MAIN 4×4 TRIP (SATURDAY)
Driver Meeting 10 AM Saturday at Base Camp. You must have a working Street licensed 4 wheel drive to do this trip. Please have a full tank of fuel, recovery gear, and cold weather gear. Bring a sack type lunch since we may not stop very long at places along the way. Be prepared for mud and snow. Be prepared to get stuck if there is snow. Know your recovery points and have recovery gear.
NOTE: Follow the rules of the land and stay on the beaten path. The roads/Trails can get soft. Spinning your tires intentionally causes damage and is illegal. These actions have caused closures in the Yakima area.

POTLUCK (SATURDAY EVENING)
We are having a Potluck Mexican Dinner & Cinco de Mayo Party after the 4×4 trip. Please let us know if you plan to attend, how many in your family, and what dish you can bring.

OTHER MEALS
There is no food service in miles. Bring your food and drinks up. Our Chuckwagon does cook extra if you don’t want to cook, but please let us know how many meals you need before the Thursday if the event so we can pack extra. Donations appreciated.

COMMS
Cell phones don’t always work in this area. We are on CB #7. We will be monitoring the CB Friday at camp.
