On Saturday April 11th, 2015 Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 met up at Selah Community & Tourism and convoyed to Whites Ridge Trailhead at the Ahtanum State Forest for Wildfire Awareness with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
When the convoy of Cub Scout families arrived at Whites Ridge Trailhead, the DNR was all set up for Wildfire Awareness training. Smokey Bear was there to help out.
The DNR staff talked about wildfires, the hard work to put them out, the equipment they use and how to help prevent wildfires. The volunteers were able to see and feel what the fire crew uses to put the wildfires out.
The volunteers helped put up a new Smokey Bear sign up on the Fire Danger signage.
This was a very fun and educational event. Thank you to all the volunteers, DNR staff and Smokey Bear.
