GENERAL INFO:
Eastern Washington Expeditions is hosting a “Northern Cle Elum Ranger District 4×4 Overland Trip” to explore the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR) Section 3, Liberty 4×4 Trails, and Gallagher Head Lake Area. We will camp on the trail for 3 nights. This event is free but there are a limited number of rig spots available. So it is on a first-sign up basis after Club Members.

THE SCHEDULE:

  • Monday July 11 we will meet in Ellensburg at 10 AM with full tanks of fuel. We will convoy the to the south side of Liberty and air down. We will spend the day on the Liberty Trails. We will make a loop back up and camp near Lion Rock.
  • Tuesday we will hit the trails through WABDR Section 3 and fueling up in Wenatchee or Cashmere. We will find a camp near Liberty for the night.
  • Wednesday we will air up and convoy to Cle Elum to fuel up. Then head to Gallagher Lake to camp the night.
  • Thursday we may hit some trails before heading home.

FEES:
This a Free to attend event. You will need to bring your own rig, gear, and food. You will need money for fuel and some cash if we camp in a pay area. A Discover Pass maybe required at some stops.

REQUIREMENTS: You must have a working Street licensed 4 wheel drive to do this trip. Smaller rigs are suggested due to 4×4 trails may be tight. Please have a full tank of fuel, recovery gear, and cold weather gear. We are spending three nights on the trail so you will need to bring a tent, food, and supplies. Bring plenty of water and things you need to be safe from the sun. (A Discover Pass maybe required.)
NOTE: By signing up you are expected to follow the rules of the land and Tread Lightly. The roads/Trails can get soft this time of year. Spinning your tires intentionally on wet surfaces causes damage and is illegal. These actions have caused closures.

FUEL: Please have a full tank of fuel to start with in Ellensburg. We will top off in Cle Elum on Wednesday on the way to Gallagher Head Lake.

CAMPING: Bring what you would need to camp in the mountains. It could be very hot or cold in the day and cold at night.

FOOD: Bring enough food for 4 days and three nights. On this trip we may have the time to cook lunch for those who what to.

This event is eligible for a voucher toward a complimentary Discover Pass.

GENERAL INFO
Join DNR staff and partners from Eastern Washington Expeditions to pick up litter and help maintain the Naneum Ridge State Forest. The Clean Up starts at 9:30AM Saturday July 23rd, 2022, at The Orchard. Sign in before 9:45 AM. Make sure you say if you need a day pass.

FEE

  • A Discover Pass is required for all Street licensed vehicles to be in the Naneum Ridge State Forest.
  • Volunteers are eligible for a voucher toward a complimentary Discover Pass.
  • The event is free to attend.

WHAT TO BRING
Volunteers should weather-appropriate clothing, gloves, boots, water, lunch and a legal four-wheel drive vehicle to navigate green dot roads.

DIRECTIONS
Brick Mill Rd, North on Cooke Canyon Rd., West on Coleman Rd. and follow the main road to the Orchard.

CAMPING INFORMATION
A Discover Pass is required for all street licensed vehicles that are parked for camping. Everyone is welcome to camp at the Eastern Washington Expeditions Base Camp Friday July 22 – Sunday July 24th. Meet & Greets Friday and Saturday evenings.

Friday
– Anytime: Set up camp.
– 7:00 (or so): Propane Campfire fun

Saturday
– 9:30 AM: Check in with DNR Staff at The Orchard.
– 3:00 PM: Return DNR tools and trash in to The Orchard. (Subject to change)
– 3:30 PM: Head out to run the backroads of the Naneum State Forest.
– 5:00 PM or so: Start heading back to camp for Dinner.
– 7:00 (or so): Propane Campfire fun

Sunday
– 10:00 AM: Maybe take a drive and then come back to pack up for home.
